So who’s all ready with their outfit for Ladies Day at Newmarket or Cheltenham or maybe you have a summer wedding to go to? I’m guessing if you’re reading this then you’re still planning your outfit. My second option for Ladies Day later in July is this stunning coral dress from Karen Millen.
Living coral is Pantone’s colour of the year for 2019, and has been chosen to reflect the vivid and effervescent colours of nature in the sea, but it had also highlighted our concern for its future. I find it to be a great colour choice this year and certainly one suitable for a summer race day event or wedding for these reasons.
1. It’s a warm colour
Living coral is a vibrant but at the same time soft colour, with a slightly golden undertone. It is a colour which suits all complexions and hair colours because it is such a warm colour. I am quite pale but it gave my skin an extra glow as it reflected on my face.
2.Good colour matching
When styling this colour for an outfit for the Races or a special occasion, the first option would be going head to toe in the same colour, but it would need to be the exact same shade. This always gives an elegant and coordinated look and one I have done myself to good effect. Otherwise I would opt either for a neutral tone hat, bag and shoes or gold as the colour does have gold undertones. White or cream also works well as you can see in my outfit. The last option is to find a contrasting colour like blue which is the complementary colour of orange/coral. This means it shows the colour to its best advantage so always a good choice. If you want to be noticed a hot pink also works well.
4. Finding the Right Accessories
After you have chosen the colour of your hat, choosing the other accessories will be easy. Choosing head to toe coral maybe difficult for shoes, so instead you could opt for a neutral tone which always work well with any outfit, so can be worn again afterwards. Gold would be another option, like these ones from Jenny Packham at Debenhams. The cream pair from Topshop would be ideal for all cream accessories.
5. Finding the perfect hat
If choosing head to toe coral, your hat choice will probably need to be colour dyed by a milliner to get an exact match. If choosing a contrasting colour, gold or cream , here are some ideas from http://www.thehatclub.co.uk where you can hire a whole range of hats in a multitude of colours to match your outfit either at their showroom in Fordham or online.
Gold and neutral6. Bags
Usually a clutch bag works well for formal occasion wear and there are many to choose from on the High Street . Here are a few options.
