Have you ever tried to create a timeless animal print look?
Or have you just picked up items that you like because you like the print?
I think that animal print is on its way to becoming the next timeless classic for years to come, but it hasn’t always been that way.
Animal Print in the Past
The pub landlady Bet Lynch in Coronation Street and Pat Butcher in Eastenders both wore it endlessly and gave it a bad reputation. I remember Pat once had seven types of animal print in one outfit, so how has it now become this wardrobe staple and how can you create a classic look?
Here are some ideas where I have tried to create this look.
1. Keep the Print Subtle to Create a Timeless Look
My first tip is to keep the print subtle. As you can see in this dress from Javelin (a local boutique with an online shop) via Senes the leopard print is quite subtle so you can tell there is a print but its not garishly bold.
2. Wear Bold Accessories
My next tip is to wear only one piece in animal print, but choose contrasting accessories to highlight the look. For example this could be with these leather ankle boots in buttermilk from Topshop or a Winter White coat like this gorgeous one from Essential Antwerp. If you do add another animal print keep this subtle too, like this belt from Marks and Spencer.
3. Coordinate your Outfit to Create a Timeless Animal Print Look
My second tip would be to coordinate colours within the print, for example here I have chosen a gorgeous skirt from Javelin which has a very bold print.
In this case I would let the skirt do all the talking, but accessorise with colours within the skirt.
I am wearing an old pair of brown boots from Laura Ashley and a basic black top from H and M.
By keeping the rest of the outfit fairly neutral the pattern stand out.
4. Wear Accessories in Animal Print
However If you aren’t sure about wearing the Animal Print Trend but want to just try it out, just choose accessories. Here I have teamed my coat with a bag from H and M and wearing animal print boots would be another alternative to wearing the trend.
I hope this gives you some ideas on how to style animal print because I’m sure its here to stay,
